Just a brief post to share a laugh from two great musicians and songwriters who, it appears, may also have a future in comedy. The brothers from Red Light Challenge (look for them in a future episode of the podcast) present their take on a timeless comedy classic.
Who's On First?
Featuring songwriters from Boise and the surrounding Treasure Valley of SW Idaho and Eastern Oregon.

New Music and Upcoming Episodes
In addition to show notes, and episodes of Measured Voices, this blog will occasionally feature music clips and details about future editions of the podcast.
The next edition of Measured Voices features a conversation with and music from John "Johnny Boy" Kunk, a young blues artist specializing in Delta blues. I plan to have that episode online in a couple of weeks.
With regard to music, last night, my wife and I were part of the monthly forum of the Idaho Songwriters Association. For those not familiar with the ISA's forum, it usually takes place the last Tuesday of each month in the Sapphire Room of the Riverside Hotel in Boise. (The forum will move to the Gem Center for the Performing Arts during the summer, May through August.)
The way the forum works is that people signup to perform an original song. Here is the song we performed for the March forum.
You can follow the Idaho Songwriters Association on Facebook.

Measured Voices - Episode One
This blog will be the accompaniment to a new podcast I have begun, titled Measured Voices. The full title is a bit wordier, but Measured Voices will suffice.
Measured Voices, in turn, is intended to introduce the songwriters of Boise and the surrounding area of the Treasure Valley in Idaho and Eastern Oregon. There is so much talent in this area, and it seems a shame for it not to be better known outside of this little corner of the world.
The first episode, a kind of test and concept edition, is already online at Anchor. (I'll embed the player to link directly to the first episode a bit later in this post.) Since this first episode is intended to be a test and to give me some practice with my recording gear and with editing, I decided to focus on and talk about my own music.
In future episodes, I plan to talk with a variety of artists and present a variety of musical styles, from New Age to Power Pop to Blues and perhaps everything in between.
Each post will introduce a new episode, provide show notes, and offer some links (when available) where you can check out more of the artist's music, perhaps buy merchandise, and find out when and where they are next playing. Some of the artists I hope to talk with do tour and perform outside of Idaho, so there may be opportunities to see them live.
With that said, here are the show notes for Episode One (the format for these may change over time, so bear with me):
Artist: Walt Huntsman (that's me)
Discussing: songwriting influences, songwriting techniques, goals for the podcast
Songs Featured: Time (from the Ten Miles From Bliss CD, available from CDBaby and digitally on iTunes and Amazon) and Cutting Ties (as yet unreleased)
Links: My Wordsmithing

Now, here is Episode One of Measured Voices:
