Measured Voices - Episode One

This blog will be the accompaniment to a new podcast I have begun, titled Measured Voices. The full title is a bit wordier, but Measured Voices will suffice.

Measured Voices, in turn, is intended to introduce the songwriters of Boise and the surrounding area of the Treasure Valley in Idaho and Eastern Oregon. There is so much talent in this area, and it seems a shame for it not to be better known outside of this little corner of the world.

The first episode, a kind of test and concept edition, is already online at Anchor. (I'll embed the player to link directly to the first episode a bit later in this post.) Since this first episode is intended to be a test and to give me some practice with my recording gear and with editing, I decided to focus on and talk about my own music.

In future episodes, I plan to talk with a variety of artists and present a variety of musical styles, from New Age to Power Pop to Blues and perhaps everything in between.

Each post will introduce a new episode, provide show notes, and offer some links (when available) where you can check out more of the artist's music, perhaps buy merchandise, and find out when and where they are next playing. Some of the artists I hope to talk with do tour and perform outside of Idaho, so there may be opportunities to see them live.

With that said, here are the show notes for Episode One (the format for these may change over time, so bear with me):

Artist: Walt Huntsman (that's me)
Discussing: songwriting influences, songwriting techniques, goals for the podcast
Songs Featured: Time (from the Ten Miles From Bliss CD, available from CDBaby and digitally on iTunes and Amazon) and Cutting Ties (as yet unreleased)
